Our First Class pupils have had a wonderfully busy and exciting few weeks. A highlight was their fantastic school tour to Navan Adventure Centre where they enjoyed bouncing castles, playing in the sand, making slime and taking part in lots of fun activities. The children were so active throughout the day that many of them were fast asleep on the journey home!
We have also been embracing Sports Week with basketball and boxing activities, and everyone is looking forward to our upcoming Sports Day.
In the classroom, our tomato plants are thriving, with some tomatoes already beginning to appear. The children have taken great responsibility for caring for them, and our different watering teams are doing an excellent job.
We have been making the most of the good weather by taking our learning outdoors whenever possible, which the children have thoroughly enjoyed.
Finally, the class recently completed their football coaching block with Debbie and Chris, where they developed their football skills, teamwork and confidence while having great fun. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm and engagement from all the children.
The boys and girls in First Class have been extremely busy over the past few weeks, immersing themselves in a wide range of Easter and spring-themed art activities. The classroom has been filled with colour and creativity, with pupils designing beautiful spring scenes, Easter eggs, and nature-inspired artwork. These activities have not only allowed the children to express themselves artistically, but have also supported their understanding of seasonal change in a fun and engaging way.
The class has also been making great use of the outdoor classroom, embracing active learning opportunities in the fresh air. Through hands-on experiences and collaborative activities, the children have been exploring their environment, working together, and developing key skills across a range of subjects. The recent spell of good weather has been a wonderful bonus, allowing for regular outdoor learning and plenty of opportunities to stay active.
Physical Education has also taken place outdoors, where the pupils have been enjoying a variety of games and activities. The children have shown great enthusiasm, teamwork, and energy during these sessions, making the most of the space and sunshine while developing their physical skills and fitness.
On Fridays, the class has been thoroughly enjoying their drumming sessions with Eamon. These sessions have brought great excitement to the classroom, with pupils developing their sense of rhythm, listening skills, and confidence through music. It has been fantastic to see how engaged and enthusiastic they are, and how much they look forward to this each week.
A special congratulations goes to Sadie and Jessie, who have proudly represented themselves in recent competitions and were delighted to receive medals for their efforts. Their achievements are a fantastic example to their classmates.
Overall, all of the boys and girls are progressing fantastically well. It is clear to see how much they are enjoying their learning, and their positive attitude and enthusiasm shine through in everything they do.
The children in First Class have been thoroughly enjoying their new Calm Corner, which has quickly become a valued space within the classroom. Pupils are learning how to recognise and manage their feelings in a safe and supportive way, using the area to take a moment to breathe, reset, or regulate their emotions when needed. This has helped to promote a positive classroom atmosphere, encouraging independence, emotional awareness, and mutual respect among the children. It has been lovely to see pupils taking ownership of the space and using it appropriately as part of their wellbeing routines.

In PE, the children have been actively engaged in developing their Fundamental Movement Skills through a variety of fun and inclusive activities. Lessons have focused on skills such as running, jumping, balancing, throwing, and catching, while also highlighting the importance of being active and healthy. Through games and movement-based tasks, pupils are learning that physical activity supports not only their bodies but also their overall wellbeing. The children have shown great enthusiasm, teamwork, and perseverance, and are beginning to understand the value of keeping their bodies healthy through regular exercise.
In Art, the children explored the parable of the Lost Sheep, responding creatively through drawing and design. They discussed themes of care, kindness, and belonging before creating thoughtful artwork that reflected the message of the story. Pupils demonstrated creativity and imagination while also making meaningful links between the story and their own experiences. This learning will continue as the children build on these ideas in their upcoming Valentine’s art activities, where they will further explore themes of love, care, and compassion through creative expression.
